- Small Business Nights will take place every Thursday night (with the exception of holidays) from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on the second floor of the Lincoln Center, 494 Main Street.
These Thursday evenings are set aside to help small business owners plan for and navigate any government relations related to land, building, and space needs.
Representatives from the Planning and Zoning, and Building Departments will be on hand to answer questions.

- A Manchester Road Race Workshop is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Hospital. This is a free, comprehensive information session beneficial for all runners and walkers participating in this year's Manchester Road Race. This evening will include running-related presentations from :

[6:30pm] C.E.R.T. Community Emergency Response Team Volunteer Training

The Manchester C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team) is looking for new members.
What is CERT? It’s a team of over 100 individual citizens trained to help the Town in case of an emergecncy when all other responders are either tied up or unable to respond. The team is comprised of 5 major sub teams, Communications Team (ham radio operators), Shelter Management Team (operates the emergency shelters in Town), the EOC (Emergency Operations Center) Support Team, the Search and Rescue Team (goes out on Case Mountain to help find lost or hurt persons on Case Mountain) and Fire/Police, who assist the Police and Fire departments at accident scenes and other emergency scenes by controlling traffic and making the area safe for the responders to operate. Also, the team learns how to take care of their family and neighbors during a weather related emergency.
What do I have to do to become a team member? It’s easy: just register for the training class. The class goes for 8 Thursday nights from 6:30 PM to about 9:30 each night, beginning on September 3.

[7:00pm] Adoption Informational Sessions

- Child Adoption Resource Association (CARA) plans to hold monthly adoption informational sessions, Adoption: How to get Started! at the Borders Books & Music in Manchester, 59 Pavilions Drive,
on the first Thursday of each month beginning on May 7 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
The Child Adoption Resource Association is a non-profit full service adoption agency located in New London serving all of Connecticut. CARA offers free state-wide informational sessions for people interested in finding out more about adoption.
The meeetings will be held at Borders Books & Music in Manchester on the first Thursday of every month.
A Child Adoption Resource Association social worker will explain different types of adoption and offer a step-by-step outline to adopting a child.
Adopting a child from Connecticut state foster care through Project Connecticut’s Child, a grant funded low cost adoption program, will be discussed, as well as international and domestic infant adoption.
Participants will leave with a folder of resources to help guide families, couples, or individuals wishing to adopt.
