[6:30pm] Martin Luther King Celebration
The Town of Manchester’s 32nd Annual Martin Luther King Celebration will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 6:30-8:00pm at Manchester High School (Bailey Auditorium). The theme for this year’s celebration, “LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!” addresses Dr. King’s belief that “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” The event will include entertainment by the Manchester High School Jazz Ensemble, keynote from the Manchester Youth Commission and presentation of awards to recognize students who are promoting positive change in their school and community. Boy Scout Troop 123 is holding an open house for boys in 5th through 8th grade on Wednesday January 18 at 6:45 pm at Community Baptist Church, 585 East Center Street. Scouts will lead boys in fun activities while adult leaders will be available to answer questions about Scouting and Troop 123. [7:00pm] Art Association Meeting Featuring Photographer Peter Glass
Art Association Meeting To Feature Photographer Peter Glass The next meeting of the Manchester Art Association will be Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Arbors, (extra parking is available at Manchester Manor next door). The guest artist, Peter Glass, will discuss photography. Peter has owned and operated Peter Glass Photography for more than 25 years. He specializes in stock, portrait, editorial, and corporate photography. His photos appear regularly in print. He also teaches adult education photography classes in many venues including his own Meetup group. The program will include a members’ Art-of-the-Month competition and light refreshments.
