Positioned behind flowers, cakes, and knitting projects, the women discover what it means to be confident in their own skin and the shining beauty within themselves and each other. NATIONAL WEAR RED DAY
Description:
“Wear Red Day” - National Wear Red Day takes place on February 03, 2017. National Wear Red Day is a day in February when many people wear red to show their support for the awareness of heart disease. It occurs in America on the first Friday in February each year, where people wear red. It is designed to bring attention to the # 1 killer of American women, cardiovascular disease. The Manchester Health Department is again promoting awareness of this significant health concern on Friday, February 3, 2017. Women and men can stop by the Customer Service Department, and Credit Union to pick up a “Heart Healthy Awareness Pack” and embroidered red dress sticker. Individuals decked out in red will receive a “Healthy Heart” pin on this day while supplies last.

Description:
CRAWLERS AND WALKERS - This rogram is an open playgroup concept with the opportunity for children to play and interact with other children in a preschool setting. The crawlers and walkers group is for children ages 2 and under with the preschool classroom space being open for walkers and a carpeted room with manipulative toys available for crawlers and babies who are not yet mobile. There is a private changing and nursing room available for families to use. This program runs the first Friday of every month from 11:30am-1pm. Each Drop-in day requires separate registration. The classroom space is the first right in the rotary of Northwest Park in a warehouse-like building called Activity Building. RUNNERS AND JUMPERS: This program is an unstructured open playgroup concept with the opportunity for children to play and interact with other children in a preschool setting. The runners and jumpers group is for children ages 2-5 years old and is a free-play time to explore and engage in a fun and safe environment. This program runs the first Friday of every month from 2:30-4pm. Each Drop-in day requires separate registration. The classroom space is the first right in the rotary of Northwest Park in a warehouse-like building called Activity Building. Description:
Keeping your Heart Healthy” - Every year the first Friday of February has been dedicated to National Wear Red Day as an awareness day to heart health and heart disease. On Friday, February 3, 2017, Kelly Skarzynski, a Hartford HealthCare-Heart Failure Clinic Resource Nurse will discuss heart health with a focus on heart failure. Following her presentation, Laura Dunfield and Barbara Titus, Recreation Department exercise instructors will talk about their personal experiences with heart disease and lessons learned. This program is scheduled from 10:00 to 11:30 at the Manchester Senior Center. October Kitchen will serve a free heart healthy lunch at 11:30 following the program.
