7:00pm [7:00pm] 2017’s Evenings@7:00 - NEVER THE SINNER
2017’s Evenings@7, Little Theatre of Manchester’s popular script-in-hand play-reading series, begins on March 14, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. with a reading of John Logan’s dramatization of the 1920’s Leopold and Loeb crime and trial, NEVER THE SINNER. NEVER THE SINNER explores the complex and twisted relationship between Nathan Leopold Jr., and Robert Loeb as they seek to create a private world of passion, intellect, and the perfect crime. Ripped from the headlines, NEVER THE SINNER takes place during the summer of 1924 in Chicago, where the two teenagers are on trial for kidnapping and murdering 14-year-old Bobby Franks. Using actual newspaper headlines and trial transcripts, including arguments made by famed Defense Attorney Clarence Darrow (who would later go on to defend John T. Scopes in the Scopes Monkey Trial), playwright John Logan weaves together a courtroom drama with scenes showcasing the developing relationship between Leopold and Loeb. The play seeks to explain why two teenagers who seem to have it all—brilliance, wealth, youth—commit this most brutal crime. This is a FREE event and no reservations are required! For more information regarding NEVER THE SINNER or the Evenings@7 series, call the Box Office at 860-647-9824.
