  National Public Health Week
Description:
National Public Health Week April 3-7, 2017 - The theme for National Public Health Week 2017 is to “Become part of a growing movement to create the healthiest nation in one generation.” Nationally, we are celebrating the power of prevention, advocating for healthy and fair policies, sharing strategies for successful partnerships and championing the role of a strong public health system. The Manchester Health Department will have a table at town hall with information including Lead Paint Safety, Ticks and Lyme disease, Hepatitis C, Food Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Opioid Abuse Prevention, and Other General Public Health Topics.

Little Theatre of Manchester Presents: GODSPELL
Description:
Tickets are selling fast for Little Theatre of Manchester’s upcoming production of the musical phenomenon GODSPELL. Parables vibrantly come to life in this beloved family-friendly musical based on The Gospel According to St. Matthew. This updated 2012 revival version features dazzling new arrangements by the composer of the hit Broadway musical, Wicked. GODSPELL runs April 7 through April 23 at Cheney Hall in Manchester. Tickets are $25-$30, with discounts available for both seniors and students and for groups of 20 or more. Description:
CRAWLERS AND WALKERS - This rogram is an open playgroup concept with the opportunity for children to play and interact with other children in a preschool setting. The crawlers and walkers group is for children ages 2 and under with the preschool classroom space being open for walkers and a carpeted room with manipulative toys available for crawlers and babies who are not yet mobile. There is a private changing and nursing room available for families to use. This program runs the first Friday of every month from 11:30am-1pm. Each Drop-in day requires separate registration. The classroom space is the first right in the rotary of Northwest Park in a warehouse-like building called Activity Building. RUNNERS AND JUMPERS: This program is an unstructured open playgroup concept with the opportunity for children to play and interact with other children in a preschool setting. The runners and jumpers group is for children ages 2-5 years old and is a free-play time to explore and engage in a fun and safe environment. This program runs the first Friday of every month from 2:30-4pm. Each Drop-in day requires separate registration. The classroom space is the first right in the rotary of Northwest Park in a warehouse-like building called Activity Building. The Senior Center Advisory Committee Meeting meets every first Friday of each month. [4:30pm] Mindfulness and Movement Workshop
Description:
The Unitarian Universalist Society: East (UUS:E) will host a free Mindfulness and Movement Workshop with instructor Kate Grigg on Friday, April 7 from 4:30 to 6 PM. This workshop is an invitation to slow down, connect inward, be in your body, and move to music. We will explore meditation, gentle stretching, qigong, and creative expression through dance. Everyone is welcome. Bring a yoga mat, meditation cushion or bench if you have one, and wear clothes you can move in freely. The program will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Society: East located at 153 Vernon Street West, Manchester, CT. Registration is requested, walk-ins are welcome. Description:
The public is invited to join the Manchester Art Association at a reception for their exhibit: “Interestingly Aged.” See the artists’ interpretation of the theme and read their statements about the artwork. The reception will be held at Manchester Town Hall, 41 Center Street, on Friday, April 7th from 5 to 7 pm. Enjoy the art, refreshments and music while meeting the local artists.
