[9:00am] Pride in Manchester - Land Conservation Trust Tag Sale
The Manchester Land Conservation Trust seeks donations for its week-long June tag sale. Drop off donations of books, tools, antiques, glassware, artwork, toys, furniture, sports items, etc. at the cider barn, 330 Bush Hill Road on most Fridays and Saturdays leading up to the tag sale: May 5-6, 12-13, 19-20, and June 2-3 from 11 to 2 each day. Phone for other drop-off times: Terry at 860-643-1823. No computers, TVs, clothing, please. The actual tag sale will be held June 9-17 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day. The tag sale raises funds for the Land Trust. The farm trails are open – maybe plan a two-to-three-mile hike while dropping off tag sale items. [1:00pm] History Walk
History Walk on Great Lawn, Saturday, June 17, starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Cheney Homestead, 106 Hartford Road, owned by the Manchester Historical Society. $10 for non-members; $7 for members; free for children under fifteen years old. Our walk includes the nine acres of Great Lawn purchased by the Town of Manchester in 2005, as well as some private property that we have obtained permission to cross, and the mansion once owned by Mary Cheney for whom the Downtown library was named. Susan Barlow and Tom Ferguson will lead the walk and comment on the historic mansions past and present. The 90-minute walk will be held rain or shine, but extreme weather cancels. [2:00pm] Cheney Cinema Saturday!
The Manchester Public Library on 586 Main Street will show an animated classic remade as a live action film during Cheney Cinema Saturday on June 17th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Due to license restrictions (since admission is free) we cannot release the name of the movie being shown, however it is rated PG, and run time is 2 hours and 19 minutes. Journey to French castle where a proud prince becomes an awful creature, and a dreamer learns to love him. Featuring items in the castle that come alive, familiar songs, and a spectacular library, you will find yourself singing along. Light refreshments will be served.
