  Collecting Tag Sale Items for Land Trust
For its September tag sale, the Manchester Land Conservation Trust seeks donations of books, tools, household items, furniture, toys, games, etc. Drop off donations at barn, 330 Bush Hill Rd., Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from August 7 to September 21 from 11:00 to 2:00 each day. No computers, TVs, clothing, please. The actual tag sale is September 22 to September 30, from 9:00am to 2:00pm each day. Come back and shop! The tag sale raises funds for the Land Trust and its open-space properties, including the 62-acre farm off Bush Hill Road in Manchester and Glastonbury. The farm trails are open maybe plan a two-to-three-mile hike while dropping off tag sale items. Land Trust info: www.manchesterlandtrust.org.

2017 Schedule of Regular Building Committee Meetings Notice is hereby given that the Building Committee of the Town of Manchester will hold its regular monthly meetings in the year of 2017 as follows: January 9, 2017 February 6, 2017 March 6, 2017 April 3, 2017 (time change to 5:30 pm) May 1, 2017 June 5, 2017 July 10, 2017 August 7, 2017 September 11, 2017 October 2, 2017 November 6, 2017 December 4, 2017 All meetings will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Manchester Room Town Hall.

little BIG BAND Sponsored by Pratt & Whitney Concert starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Manchester Bicentennial Band Shell on the grounds of Manchester Community College. Admission is free, but donations are welcome, as are volunteers. OUTSIDE Weather Permitting; Please check the web site or call 860-432-7728 after 5:00 p.m. if the weather looks threatening. Mysteries on Main Book Discussion for Adults at Manchester Public Library, Monday, August 7, 2017 at 7:00pm. Join the discussion of Linda Greenlaw's novel "Slipknot" in the Howroyd Room at the Mary Cheney Library, 586 Main St., Manchester, CT 06040. Greenlaw, America's only female swordfish boat captain, has written several nonfiction books about life as a commercial fisherman. Slipknot is the first book in a mystery series featuring marine investigator Jane Bunker. It has been described on Amazon as a book with "a great setting, wonderful characters, an authentic and original detective, and a story that will keep [readers] on the edge of their seats." Copies are available in the Library's Reference Department and at the Whiton Branch. The FREE program is open to the public and registration is not required. Light refreshments will be served.
