  Drop-In Play Fridays -
Description:
CRAWLERS AND WALKERS - This rogram is an open playgroup concept with the opportunity for children to play and interact with other children in a preschool setting. The crawlers and walkers group is for children ages 2 and under with the preschool classroom space being open for walkers and a carpeted room with manipulative toys available for crawlers and babies who are not yet mobile. There is a private changing and nursing room available for families to use. This program runs the first Friday of every month from 11:30am-1pm. Each Drop-in day requires separate registration. The classroom space is the first right in the rotary of Northwest Park in a warehouse-like building called Activity Building. RUNNERS AND JUMPERS: This program is an unstructured open playgroup concept with the opportunity for children to play and interact with other children in a preschool setting. The runners and jumpers group is for children ages 2-5 years old and is a free-play time to explore and engage in a fun and safe environment. This program runs the first Friday of every month from 2:30-4pm. Each Drop-in day requires separate registration. The classroom space is the first right in the rotary of Northwest Park in a warehouse-like building called Activity Building. Ham Radio Lessons
Description:
Learn to become a Ham radio operator at no cost to you! The Manchester BEARS in conjunction with Manchester Emergency Management Agency is sponsoring a certification class for the basic ham license (technician level). The cost of the class is free. There is no age limit, but youths must take and pass the same test as the adults. Once certified what can you do? You can literally talk to the world for free! Alternatively, you can join the Manchester Emergency Communications team (known as EMCOMM). Where you can assist with ham radio communications during a large scale emergency (like a blizzard). The Emcomm team practices their radio skills every Tuesday and Thursday evening NETs (participation on these local checkins is encouraged it is not mandatory). If this is something that interests you and you have additional questions, please see the contact information below. The classes begin Friday October 6 and continue every Friday for 5 weeks, with the review and exam on November 7. The classes are free, but the FCC has a $15.00 test and license fee due on exam night. The classes start at 7:00 PM and finish before 9:30 PM. The classes have a limited number of seats available and tend to fill up quickly. The Senior Center Advisory Committee Meeting meets every first Friday of each month. February 3, 2017 March 3, 2017 April 7, 2017 May 5, 2017 June 2, 2017 July 7, 2017 August 4, 2017 September 1, 2017 October 6, 2017 November 3, 2017 December 1, 2017 All Senior Center Members are encouraged to attend to discuss issues of concern to members, bring forward suggestions to the administration and be visionaries for the future!
