Free Walking Tour in the Cheney National Historic District Saturday, October 7, starting at 1:00 p.m. in front of 146 Hartford Road, the former Cheney Office Building. Find out about the huge brick buildings that remain from the days of the world-famous silk mills. Who worked there? Who owned the mills? Where did workers and owners live? No rain date, so bring umbrellas if weather is iffy. Extreme weather cancels. Information about the Cheney district and Manchester's history at www.manchesterhistory.org. The walk is free, but donations to the Manchester Historical Society are welcome.

Concert - October 7, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. - Pre-concert talk at 6:15 p.m. The Friends of Music at Emanuel will present Renaissonics, the internationally-acclaimed, Boston-based early music ensemble, on Saturday, October 7, at 7:00 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 60 Church Street, Manchester. Internationally acclaimed for their artistry, virtuosity and improvisations, the ensemble will feature exquisite madrigals and chamber music; elegant, improvisational dances; early Baroque trio sonatas and music of Elizabethan and Jacobean England played on handcrafted Renaissance instruments. A pre-concert talk by Dr. Robert Galloway will take place in Emanuel's Community Room at 6:15 p.m. A reception will follow the concert in Luther Hall. Concert is free.
