The Capitol Region East Operating Committee (CREOC) is pleased to announce Tradebe Environmental Services as the new contractor that will provide HHW collection services to the eight member Towns. Description:
There will be a Puerto Rico Relief Effort in Manchester, CT on Oct. 26-29. You can help by donating supplies (specified below). These supplies will be transported Miami on Oct. 30th and then delivered to Puerto Rico. Thank you for helping us make a difference in Puerto Rico! How you can help: FILL THE TRUCK Help us send relief supplies to Puerto Rico. Items most needed include: cases of bottle water, battery operated fans, strong LED flash lights, batteries and rechargeable batteries. DROP OFF LOCATION: Faith Tabernacle, 110 Utopia Rd, Manchester, CT 06042 DROP OFF DATES: Thursday and Friday October 26-27 from 8am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday October 28-29 from 9am to 12pm If you choose to make a monetary donation, there are two ways you can do so. 1. [10:00am] Barbershop Harmony Society District Convention
Description:
The Northeastern District of the Barbershop Harmony Society will soon be staging a memorable event in Manchester, open to the public. The annual fall district convention will determine district championships for both quartets and choruses and select the district’s chorus representative to the Barbershop Harmony Society International Contest in July 2018 in Orlando, Florida. The quartets and choruses represent chapters from all of New England and eastern New York State. On Friday, October 27 at 6.00 PM the semi-final round will be held for the quartets. Twenty-four quartets are scheduled to compete including 4 quartets with members from the Manchester Silk City Chorus. On Saturday, October 28, choruses will compete beginning at 10.00 AM. Fifteen chorus are registered to compete including Manchester’s Silk City Chorus. The evening events will be a show of past district quartet champions at 7.00 PM and the final round of the quartet competition, with 10 finalists, at 8.00 PM. Tickets are available for the entire weekend or separately for each event. Individual event tickets are $20.00. All event tickets are $45.00 for adults, $25.00 if under 25 or with a student ID. Halloween Happenings: A Safe Downtown Manchester Trick-or-Treat. Come to Downtown Manchester and enjoy these fun activities: • Chalk the Walk at Center Memorial Park – 10AM to 11:30AM at Center Memorial Park. All ages create chalk drawings on the Park sidewalks (or use our stencils). Just for fun! Hosted by the Manchester Arts Commission & Manchester Recreation Division.. • Danny Magic – A fun comedy magic show -10:30 AM to 11:30AM in the Howroyd Room at the Mary Cheney Library, 586 Main St. FREE for all ages. The library will have treats available for the Safe Downtown Trick-or-Treat event from 11:30AM to 1PM. • Pumpkin Decorating for Children – 11:30 AM to 1 PM at the Manchester Antiques Mall, 811 Main St. Sponsored by the Manchester Antiques Mall. • Safe Children’s Downtown Trick-or-Treat – 11:30 AM to 1 PM – Children visits Downtown businesses displaying a “Welcome Trick-or-Treaters” sign and receive assorted treats. • Downtown Trick-or-Treat Group Photo – 1 PM in Center Memorial Park following the Trick-or-Treat. Description:
Manchester, Ct October 28, 2017: The Silk City Board Game Group, hosted by the Manchester Public Library, will meet on Saturday October 28, 2017 from 12-4:30PM. Learn to play: Century: Golem Edition; Photosynthesis; Fate of the Elder Gods; and The Gallerist. Our game library will also be available. We’ll supply all the games- no need to bring any with you! Description:
Free Rail Trail Hike on Saturday, October 28, at 1:00 p.m. -- an easy 3-mile walk along the former railroad, hiking along the one-mile portion owned by the Manchester Land Conservation Trust and on to Center Springs Park and the footbridge overlooking Broad Street. About two hours round trip, with commentary on the history of the railroad. Meet at tracks on north (right) side of 2 Main Street, Manchester, CT 06042. Park at nearby shopping plaza or Eighth Utilities District office (please do not park in Farr's store’s parking lot). A special favor will be given to children under 16 who attend the hike.
