ZUMBA, the hot new way to exercise is going to shake up Cheney Hall on Friday, August 20th, when certified Zumba instructors give a 1 and ½ hour lesson to help raise money for Little Theatre of Manchester, and MACC Charities!
Barbara Titus, certified instructor and a team of instructors will bring Latin rhythms on the great Hall floor, and the event is open to anyone! Entry is $25 per person, and additional fundraisers will be in the running for special prizes from Little Theatre of Manchester and Samadhi Yoga Studio, also located in Manchester. Each entrant is encouraged to bring a towel, comfortable clothing and a bottle of water, and will be required to sign a waiver. Those under 18 must have a parents signature.
The Zumba instruction will begin at 7 p.m. and the hall will open at 6:30 p.m. for warm up time. All participants will receive a Zumba bracelet to remind them of the great workout they’re going to get!
The two non-profit organizations have worked together in the past, LTM has provided theater tickets to Manchester Area Conference of Churches clients, but this time, they will fundraise together for their very different missions. “We may have very different focus, but truly all good works in a community serve for the betterment of the citizens – whether sheltering and feeding, or entertaining and feeding the soul,” said Joyce Hodgson, Executive Director of Little Theatre of Manchester, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and next.

Manchester Fire Dept.8th Utilities District.
2010 Annual Peach Festival The Manchester Fire Department 8th Utilities District is proud to announce their 61st Annual Peach Festival on Friday, August 27th.
The Festival has been continuously held since 1949, Rain or Shine. The event typically draws over 3,000 hungry community members. The proceeds for this event are used to support the mission of the 8th Utilities Fire Department. The Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary organizes the event in conjunction with the Fire Department Members.
The event would not be possible without the community involvement in the annual tradition of the peach peeling, which marks the beginning of this event. Your $4.00 Peach Festival ticket provides you with a delicious bowl of mouth-watering peach shortcake, admission to the event, and the opportunity to win one of several door prizes.
The Peach Festival will begin promptly at 6pm and conclude at 8:30pm. Location is the district parking lot on the corner of Main and Hilliard Street. The Festival typically marks the end of the summer season with a last opportunity for the community to get together before the fall chill arrives.
The annual event takes about 6 months of planning to coordinate and has a perfect record for taking place. We would be remiss in not acknowledging the many local businesses who support our community by donating door prizes. You may ask why peaches? Well, back when the event was originally being organized, many other local communities featured Strawberry Shortcake fundraisers. Manchester was leading the way in celebrating a delicious local treat, all while supporting a great cause which benefits the community.
No need to wait to the day of the event to purchase your ticket! Tickets are on sale now at the Fire Headquarters located at 138 Main Street or call 643-7373. You can also purchase tickets at the door. Those taking the tasty treats home should bring wraps or covers and boxes to transport them safely.
