Historical Society Tea

Description: The Manchester Historical Society invites the public to a textile-themed tea on Sunday, June 11, from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m., 175 Pine Street, Manchester. Special guest Carol Cheney will present a glimpse into the family that founded America’s largest silk mills, which thrived in Manchester in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Learn about the role of advertising and about the Cheneys’ legacy of philanthropy in Manchester and Hartford. Carol is the great granddaughter of one of the founders of Cheney Brothers. $30 admission per person includes tea in china cups and food both savory and sweet – served in an elegant setting. There will be door prizes, a textile exhibit, silent auction, and music.
