11:00am [11:00am] Woodbridge Barn Open House
Woodbridge Barn Restored. The Manchester Historical Society invites the public to free open houses of the restored eighteenth-century barn and the grounds of its Woodbridge farmstead from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on these Sundays: July 9, July 23, August 13, August 27, September 10, September 24, October 8, October 22, and November 12. The farmstead is located in Manchester Green at 495 East Middle Turnpike, near its intersection with Woodbridge Street. Visitors can park at the municipal lot behind the Senior Center, and along the street that runs between the Senior Center and the farmstead itself. From the street, walk to the backyard using the grass driveway between the house and Woodbridge Pizza. The Woodbridge farmstead is on the National Register of Historic Places. 1:00pm [1:00pm] Back to School-1751 at the Keeney Schoolhouse!
The Manchester Historical Society hosts an open house on Sunday, September 10,2017. We will be featuring the Keeney Schoolhouse and looking back to the first day of school, 266 years ago. Find out what kids learned, what games they played, and what clothes they wore. Tour the Cheney Homestead, built in 1785, and see a weaving demonstration. Visit our flourishing history garden. Donations accepted for the upkeep of the museums. Info about local history: www.manchesterhistory.org. The Homestead will also be open 1:00 to 4:00 on Sunday, October 8, with a harvest theme, and Sunday, November 12, highlighting Native Americans.
