  Digital Mammography
The Manchester Health Department in conjunction with Hartford Hospitals Partnership for Breast Care, is hosting the “Take the Time” Digital Mammography Van on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at North Main Street, across from the Community Y. Screening mammogram will be offered to women age 40 and over who have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months. Appointment will be available from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Space is limited and registration is required. Donated funds are available to pay for the cost of the mammogram if you are underinsured or do not have insurance. Please call the Manchester Health Department at (860) 647-3173 for more information and to schedule an appointment.

Newcomers Meeting The next Senior Center Newcomer’s meeting, open to those 60+ and Members will be held on Wednesday, Oct 18th at 11:00 a.m. in the library. New members will receive introductions to our programs and tour our facility. You must REGISTER with the front office by calling (860) 647-3211 ahead of time so we may properly prepare for your visit. The Mobile Food Share will be at Squire Village, (1st parking lot off of Imperial Drive #78) 48 Spencer St., Manchester. Please arrive early to be in line for 9am as the truck leaves promptly at 9:30am. Open to the public; Bring a sturdy grocery bag! Randy Kirsch, President of the Eastern Chapter of CT, Hearing Loss Association of America, will present “Losing Your Sight and Sound Without Losing your Confidence” at the Manchester Senior Center. If you are an older adult who is hard of hearing and have significant vision loss, or you are a family member or care giver of someone with these dual disabilities, this seminar will benefit you so please join us. The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that they will host the Town of Manchester Board of Directors Candidate Forum 2017, in partnership with students from Manchester High School Communications Academy. The Candidate Forum will offer Town Board of Director candidates the opportunity to offer opening and closing statements, and answer questions posed by the Student Moderators. This event is open to the public and will air live on Cox Channel 16 until election day. 7:00pm [7:00pm] A Fall Film Festival Presented by UUS:E
The Unitarian Universalist Society: East (UUS:E) will host Rejoice and Resist: A Fall Film Festival on Tuesdays, October 17 and November 28, 2017, at 7 PM. In recognition of this year’s Unitarian Universalist General Assembly theme, we will screen and discuss two eclectic films celebrating the human spirit in the face of challenge and adversity. On Tuesday, October 17: "The Grapes of Wrath." Released in 1940, depression-era Oklahoma Dust Bowl farmers set out for a better life in California in this John Ford masterpiece. Starring Henry Fonda and Jane Darwell. Tuesday, November 28: "42." This 2013 film tells the story of Jackie Robinson’s rise to fame as a Brooklyn Dodger and a trailblazer in sports history. Starring Chadwick Boseman as Robinson and Harrison Ford as Branch Rickey. The programs will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Society: East located at 153 Vernon Street West, Manchester, CT.
