10:00am [10:00am] Manchester Historical Society Celebrates Black History Month
Description:
The Manchester Historical Society presents a Black History Month exhibit weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. through March 23. Saturday February 24 and Sunday February 25 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The exhibit describes the six African American soldiers from Manchester who enlisted in the 29th Regiment Connecticut Volunteer Infantry. There is information on each man with the dates of his military service, the battles in which he fought, and his life after the Civil War. The exhibit is also open on subsequent weekends by appointment; phone 860-647-9983 weekdays to make an appointment. The museum store will be open during exhibit hours for local history books, maps, notecards, t-shirts, coffee mugs, and Herald cookbooks. The Cheney silk advertisement exhibit is also on display.

Description:
In accordance with Section 47a – 42c of the Connecticut General Statutes, property obtained by the Town of Manchester through evictions shall be auctioned. The auction will be held at the Town’s storage facility at Greene Moving and Storage.

Newcomers Meeting The next Senior Center Newcomer’s meeting, open to those 60+ and Members will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 11:00 a.m. in the library. New members will receive introductions to our programs and tour our facility. [7:00pm] Manchester Art Association February Meeting
Description:
The next meeting of the Manchester Art Association will be Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 7:00 pm in the auditorium of the Arbors, 403 West Center Street, Manchester (extra parking is available at Manchester Manor next door). The guest artist will be Paul Hetzel. He will talk about Ansel Adams and black and white photography. Paul Hetzel is a Springfield, MA based photographer. His images have won best in show at the Monson Art Show and the New England Camera Club Conference and appeared in multiple New England galleries. He published his first book, From This Sapling, in 2013. He has been fortunate to capture landscape and nature images in distant lands, but some of his favorite images have been captured close to home. The program will include a members’ Art-of-the-Month competition and light refreshments. The meeting is free and open to the public.
