10:00am [10:00am] Manchester Historical Society Celebrates Black History Month
The Manchester Historical Society presents a Black History Month exhibit weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. through March 23. Saturday February 24 and Sunday February 25 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The exhibit describes the six African American soldiers from Manchester who enlisted in the 29th Regiment Connecticut Volunteer Infantry. There is information on each man with the dates of his military service, the battles in which he fought, and his life after the Civil War. The exhibit is also open on subsequent weekends by appointment; phone 860-647-9983 weekdays to make an appointment. The museum store will be open during exhibit hours for local history books, maps, notecards, t-shirts, coffee mugs, and Herald cookbooks. The Cheney silk advertisement exhibit is also on display.

[10:00am] Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls
The Manchester Health Department is offering a 3rd Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls workshop. This 8 week program starts on March, 16, 2018. A Matter of Balance is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older participants. Participants learn to set realistic goals, to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and learn simple exercises to increase strength and balance. A workbook and healthy refreshments are provided. Call the Manchester Health Department at (860) 647- 3173 to register for these programs. Please call early as space is limited.

CAST children's theatre presents "Inn-Cognito" March 15-17, 2018 at 7:00 pm. Hollie Berry and her children are opening up an old resort they recently inherited. It seems as if it's going to be a roaring success. However, once their guests begin arriving, they soon suspect that everything is not at all as it seems. In this spirited comedy, Holly and her kids quickly learn that nobody at their hotel is who they say they are. In fact, you could say they're all traveling Inn-Cognito! Tickets are $10.00 each. Magician Daniel GreenWolf presents his show, Celtic Magic: An Evening of Irish Illusion, at the Little Theatre of Manchester at Cheney Hall for one night only on March 16th, 2018 at 8:00 PM. GreenWolf combines Magic, theatrical storytelling, quick-witted comedy, and a few death-defying feats with the beauty of Irish culture to create a unique theatrical experience. The show is recommended for ages 10+ because the more dangerous aspects might be a little frightening for the youngest of children.
