Registration for Magic Tree House
Magic Tree House Special Program – Wednesday, April 11th, 2018, 2:30pm at Mary Cheney Library. Children in grades 2-3 can test their knowledge with Magic Tree House trivia and then get creative with exciting crafts and activities. Registration is required and begins Monday, April 2nd. Registration for Children's Muscle Car Model Club
Muscle Car Model Club – Thursday, April 12th, 2018, 6pm at Mary Cheney Library. This program is for children ages 8-11 and a parent; we will have pizza and then work on an awesome Snap-Tite model of a classic ’63 Corvette Sting Ray. Children will have a chance to display their completed models at the library in August – more details to come. Registration is required and begins Monday, April 2nd. Passport to Connecticut Libraries
Manchester Public Library is participating in the 2018 passport program, April 2-30, encouraging residents to explore the amazing diversity of public libraries throughout the state. Beginning April 2nd show your library card at the Cheney Reference Desk, Cheney Children's Desk or the Whiton Circulation Desk, pick up a Passport, get it stamped, and receive a small token gift. Visit at least 5 participating libraries, to be entered in a statewide random drawing for a Visa gift card. You must show a library card to receive a stamp. There will be one child and one adult winner. A separate random drawing of one child and one adult winner will be held from all those who visited the most libraries. To be eligible for the drawings completed passports must be turned in to any participating library by May 7th. A list of those libraries participating will be available for planning your visits. National Public Health Week
The national public health week theme is “HEALTHIEST NATION 2030 – Changing Our Future Together”. The Manchester Health Department plays a crucial role in laying the foundation for good health and improved longevity in our community. We realize that change can only happen if we make healthy choices as a society. This means improving everything that impacts health — from housing, education and income to community design, transportation and our environment. Working together, as a community, we can help change the course of health in our town. Please stop by the Town Hall Lobby during this week to obtain information on many different health topics. There will be a wide array of information available including but not limited to: ways to decrease your exposure to mosquitos, safe lead practices, adult vaccination and much more

6:00pm [6:30pm] Library Program "Life on Parole"
"Life on Parole" film screening. Monday, April 2, 2018, 6:30pm at the Whiton Auditorium, 100 North Main Street. With unique access, go inside an effort in Connecticut to change the way parole works and reduce the number of people returning to prison. In collaboration with The New York Times, the 55-minute film follows four former prisoners as they navigate the challenges of their first year on parole. Following the documentary, engage in conversation with former parolees and current criminal justice professionals. Presented by the Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy at Central Connecticut State University. This is a free event and no registration is required.
