8:00am [8:30am] The Manchester Garden Club Annual Plant Sale
Description:
The Manchester Garden Club will hold it's annual plant sale on Saturday, May 19th starting at 8:30 a.m., rain or shine. This event will be held in the parking lot at the Community Baptist Church at 585 East Center Street, Manchester. Most plants will be $5.00. All sales are cash. This sale is a once a year opportunity to buy a variety of plants grown by our members and friends in local gardens. You will also be able to get advice from the gardeners who grew them. The inventory changes each year and the selection will include perennials for sun, shade, including flowers, herbs, ground covers, grasses, small trees and shrubs. Gently used garden tools and decorative items will be featured. Proceeds support the maintenance of five public gardens in town, an annual scholarship, as well as education and contributions to town and area organizations such Wickham Park. The Unitarian Universalist Society: East (UUS:E) will host a Triple Sale—Plant Sale + Tag Sale + Art Sale on Saturday, May 19, 2018, starting at 9:00 a.m. Come to UUS:E for one-stop shopping! Begin with our annual plant sale featuring a variety of perennial plants from the gardens of members and friends. New this year is the addition of a garden and outdoor living tag sale featuring gardening tools, decorative flower pots, seasonal items, gently used household goods and summer sports items. The plant sales will run from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. The tag sale will stay open until 1:00 p.m. Then pop inside for an art show and sale co-sponsored by the Manchester Art Association. Get your Van Gogh On will feature original work in different mediums created by members of the Manchester Art Association and UUS:E interpreting Van Gogh’s work and style. The gallery will be open until 1:00 p.m. The sale will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Society: East located at 153 Vernon Street West, Manchester, CT. It is free and open to the public. Description:
Join us to make a difference and change a life! 6 kilometers, or roughly 3.7 miles. That’s the typical distance many people in the Congo walk round trip daily, simply to get clean water. Our partnership with Covenant Kids Congo & Team World Vision will bring your family, friends, church, and neighbors together to walk or run in this fun event which teaches our children to help others. Each participant’s $50 registration fee provides life-changing clean water for one person in the Congo. You can be a walker or runner, it doesn’t matter. Every step you take is one they won’t have to. Please join us immediately following the race for a picnic at Wickham Park Pines Pavilion, 1329 Middle Turnpike Manchester, Ct 06040. Description:
WWLM IS HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THE 8th Annual Walk A Mile, Feed the World Walk-A-Thon. A walk to benefit the feeding outreaches of World-Wide Lighthouse Missions, Inc. This is 3-Mile Walk on the Manchester Bike Trail (all levels of walkers are welcome). Last year we successfully raised $14,142.47. Help us reach this year’s GOAL of $15,000! You can participate in any of the following ways: - Be a Sponsor - Register to Walk - Donate or Pledge a Walker - Volunteer on Event Day Early Registration & Sponsorship Deadline is April 30, 2018. All walkers registered by April 30th will receive a free T-shirt. Description:
The Manchester Public Library on 586 Main Street will show a movie about four teenagers who are transported into a video game during Cheney Cinema Saturday on May 19th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Due to license restrictions (since admission is free) we cannot release the name of the movie being shown, however it is rated PG-13, and run time is 1 hour and 59 minutes. Thrown into a jungle-themed video game, the teens must figure out how to survive and beat the game in order to return to the real world. Can’t guess the name of the movie? Call the library for more information! Light refreshments will be served. No registration required for this free event.
