Description:
The Manchester Historical Society invites the public to free open houses of the restored eighteenth-century Woodbridge Barn and the grounds of its Woodbridge farmstead from12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on these Sundays: May 6, 20 and then continuing on the second and fourth Sundays of the month: June 10, 24; July 8, 22; August 12, 26; September 9, 23; October 14, 28. The farmstead is located in Manchester Green at 495 East Middle Turnpike, near its intersection with Woodbridge Street. Visitors can park at the municipal lot behind the Senior Center, and along the street that runs between the Senior Center and the farmstead itself. From the street, walk to the backyard using the grass driveway between the house and Woodbridge Pizza. The Woodbridge farmstead was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. [1:00pm] 'Hidden Gems' Walking Tour
Description:
The Manchester Historical Society will lead a 'Hidden Gems' walking tour on Sunday, June 24th. We sill start on the front steps of the Town Hall, 41 Center St. The walk will showcase some out-of-the-way streets and some interesting historic buildings. The Masonic Temple will welcome us for a tour. No rain date, so please bring an umbrella if the weather's poor. Extreme weather cancels. $3.00 for members, $5.00 for non-members, free for children under age 16. Information on local history at www.manchesterhistory.org.
