Environmental Health Professionals Day
Environmental Health Professionals Day in Connecticut August 24, 2018 August 24th 2018 has been officially recognized by the Governor of Connecticut as Environmental Health Professionals Day. We are asking that you recognize this day and honor the dedication and hard work performed by the Environmental Health Professionals within your communities. Environmental Health Professionals play a core function in the improvement of public health through preventative measures and management of the environment. The practice of environmental health is critical to the creation and maintenance of healthy communities.

2:00pm [2:00pm] Cheney Cinema Musical Edition!
The Manchester Public Library will show a classic musical starring a famous actress during Cheney Cinema Musical Edition. Due to license restrictions (since admission is free) we cannot release the name of the movie being shown. It was a movie from the 1940s before ratings, and run time is 1 hour and 53 minutes. In the year leading up to the 1904 World’s Fair, four sisters learn about life and love as they prepare for a move to New York City. Featuring iconic songs, this was a huge hit for MGM in 1945. Can’t guess the name of the movie? Call the library for more information! Light refreshments will be served. No registration required for this free event. 4:00pm [4:00pm] Unique Boutique Tag Sale
Unique Boutique, a large quality tag sale will be held at St. Teresa of Calcutta Church's air conditioned auditorium, 80 Main Street, Manchester, CT., August 23rd - 25th. On Thursday, August 23rd from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm admission fee is $10.00. Thursday admission includes wine and cheese while you shop. Admission Friday, August 24th from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm is $1.00. Admission on Saturday, August 25th from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm is free. Items for sale include furniture, books, jewelry, records, record player, collectibles, toys, hardware, artwork, household items, linens, glassware, sporting goods, gardening supplies, luggage, pocketbooks and much more.

[6:00pm] Peach Festival
Manchester Fire Department 8th Utilities District Annual Peach Festival! They are proud to announce their 69th Annual Peach Festival. The Festival has been continuously held since 1949, rain or shine. The proceeds for this event are used to support The Fire Department. The Ladies Auxiliary organizes the event in conjunction with the Fire Department Members. The event would not be possible without the community involvement in the annual tradition of the peach peeling, which marks the beginning of this event. Your $5.00 Peach Festival ticket provides you with a delicious bowl of mouth-watering peach shortcake, admission to the event, and the opportunity to win one of several door prizes. The Peach Festival will begin promptly at 6:00pm and conclude at 8:00pm. The Festival typically marks the end of the summer season with a last opportunity for the community to get together before the fall chill arrives. Tickets will be available at the door. Those taking the tasty treats home should bring wraps or covers and boxes to transport them safely.

Department of Leisure, Family and Recreation proudly presents Moon-Lit Yoga in the Park! For all levels, all ages, all people. Led by Barbara Titus. There is no admission and participants must bring their own mats. Free parking. Bring a friend, bring your family!
