Manchester Land Trust Tag Sale. Friday Sept. 21st-Saturday Sept. 29th. Time: 9am-2pm 330 Bush Hill Rd. A giant tag sale will benefit the Manchester Land Conservation Trust and its work to preserve open space lands. Shop Friday, September 21 through Saturday, September 29 from 9:00 to 2:00 each day at 330 Bush Hill Road, Manchester, in the old cider barn on our farm property, with 5,000 square feet of books, games, dishes, tools, artwork, curiosities, furniture, machinery, household and sports items, near-antiques, glassware, and items both useful and decorative. Please join the Manchester Elks 1893 & Manchester Rotary Club for a pasta dinner fundraiser supporting the Manchester, CT HOPE Initiative. HOPE is a law enforcement facilitated community diversion program treating, diminishing, and combating the opioid crisis. One $20.00 ticket includes Rao’s authentic Italian sauce and artisanal pasta, meatballs, salad, rolls, dessert, and beverage. There also will be a teacup auction! Banned Books Week Event The Manchester Public Library on 586 Main Street will host a Banned Books Week photo opportunity on Tuesday September 25th, 2018 and Thursday September 27th 2018 between 6-8 pm. We’ll be taking photos of people with their favorite banned book using a green screen background. Don’t worry, we’ll have plenty of banned books available. Join us and have your banned book “selfie” made into a poster for pick up at a later date. No registration required for this free event. This event is for all ages. Help and encouragement after the death of a spouse, child, family member, or friend. GriefShare is a special weekly seminar and support group designed to help you rebuild your life after losing a loved one. Our group is made up of caring individuals who have experienced grief and want to help you through the difficult days ahead. This group meets on Thursdays from 6:30 - 8:30 pm, at the Manchester Church of Christ starting on September 13th and going through December 13th. Boy Scout Troop 27 will hold an Open House on September 27, 2018 at 7 p.m. located at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 41 Park Street, Manchester. Weekly meetings are held on Thursdays at 7:15 pm. In the scouting program, scouts participate in unforgettable camping experiences, leadership development and team building activities. Scouting fosters self-esteem, a sense of value and belonging, accountability and teamwork. Scouting is also a great way to make new friends and learn lifetime skills such as first aid, swimming, cycling and camping techniques.
