What Does Manchester Mean to YOU? THE TOWN OF MANCHESTER ENCOURAGES ALL RESIDENTS TO BE HEARD AND SHARE THEIR VOICE AT UPCOMING COMMUNITY FOCUS GROUPS. JOIN US. The Town of Manchester’s Department of Leisure, Family, and Recreation, in partnership with KJR Consulting, is building a strategy to increase engagement across the entire community, especially those that have been less engaged in the past, and we want YOUR input! KJR is engaging citizens across Manchester in dialogue about what engagement means to them, how to improve it, and how to make these improvements a reality. In collaboration with a core team of leaders throughout the community, KJR will use YOUR input and perspectives to define goals, and to build a plan to achieve equity and belonging for everyone in the Town of Manchester. Light refreshments will be provided. Childcare is available for children 3-years old and up(potty trained, only, please). 15 children per session, maximum. [6:30pm] Connecticut Icons: Classic Symbols of the Nutmeg State
The Whiton Branch Library presents Connecticut Icons: Classic Symbols of the Nutmeg State by Charles Monagan. The program explores Connecticut's rich history and identity through its iconic features such as stone walls, Wiffle balls, hot lobster rolls, the Nautilus, town greens, the UConn Dairy Bar and many others. A colorful "Connecticut Icons Quiz" will challenge the knowledge of those in attendance. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at $20.00 and available for signing by the author. Charles Monagan has been a writer and editor since 1972, when he graduated from Dartmouth College. His work has appeared in many magazines and newspapers, and from 1989 to 2013 he was the editor of Connecticut Magazine. In 1997, he won the Gold Medal for Reporting from the national City and Regional Magazine Association. In 2012, he received the Connecticut Press Club’s Mark Twain Award for Distinguished Journalism, a lifetime award. No registration required for this free event.
