Description:
View scarecrow creations of all kinds displayed along Main Street created by individuals, businesses students and groups. Description:
The Manchester Historical Society invites everyone to make a pine cone bird feeder, caterpillar, and pin cushion on Sunday, October 14 on the grounds of its Woodbridge farmstead from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Tour the eighteenth-century barn; collect walnuts from an ancient walnut tree; compete in a sack race; help create a Woodbridge quilt. Suggested donation $2 per person, or $4 per family of four or more. In addition to this craft event, the barn and grounds will continue to be open the second and fourth Sundays of the month through October 28. Location: 495 East Middle Turnpike, near its intersection with Woodbridge Street. Park behind the Senior Center, or along the street that runs between the Senior Center and the farmstead itself. Description:
The Manchester Historical Society presents a special harvest open house on Sunday, October 14 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the Cheney Homestead, 106 Hartford Road, with hayrides, blacksmithing and horseshoeing (farrier) demonstrations, open-fire camp cooking, horseshoe-throwing competition and other period outdoor activities. Activities for young and old, reflecting a traditional New England harvest. Host and Homestead Committee Chairperson Peter Millet says,
