  RACE: Let’s Talk About It! 2nd in Series
Three Manchester-area churches—Concordia Lutheran Church, Emanuel Lutheran Church and St. Mary's Episcopal Church— are collaborating to sponsor “Let’s Talk About It,” a three -part documentary film series and discussion on racism in America. The program will be shown at both churches at time shown below. Noon at St. Mary’s (brown bag lunch) 6:30 p.m. at Concordia The programs are open to all members of the community. The series kicked off on Sept. 26 with a screening of a 2008 film titled “Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North,” Participants will view seven very short films that are part of a New York Times series called “A Conversation on Race.” This series of short films features everyday people as they discuss issues of race and identity in America. There will be time for reflection and discussion after each film. Titles to be screened on October 24 are: A Conversation With My Black Son (5 min.) A Conversation About Growing Up Black (5 min.) A Conversation With White People on Race (5 min.) A Conversation With Police on Race (7 min.) A Conversation With Black Women on Race (6 min.) A Conversation With Latinos on Race (7 min.) A Conversation With Asian-Americans on Race (7 min.) The Nov. 28 films will be announced soon. There is a mobile food share at New River Community Church, 314 Woodbridge Street, Manchester, every other Wednesday from 1:00 - 1:30pm. What Does Manchester Mean to YOU? THE TOWN OF MANCHESTER ENCOURAGES ALL RESIDENTS TO BE HEARD AND SHARE THEIR VOICE AT UPCOMING COMMUNITY FOCUS GROUPS. JOIN US. The Town of Manchester’s Department of Leisure, Family, and Recreation, in partnership with KJR Consulting, is building a strategy to increase engagement across the entire community, especially those that have been less engaged in the past, and we want YOUR input! KJR is engaging citizens across Manchester in dialogue about what engagement means to them, how to improve it, and how to make these improvements a reality. In collaboration with a core team of leaders throughout the community, KJR will use YOUR input and perspectives to define goals, and to build a plan to achieve equity and belonging for everyone in the Town of Manchester. Light refreshments will be provided. Childcare is available for children 3-years old and up(potty trained, only, please). 15 children per session, maximum.
