9:00am [9:00am] Christmas in New England St. Mary's Holiday Fair
Enjoy The Holidays & Support The Community! Come join us for this festive event and do some of your holiday shopping. The fair will include Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, Holiday Treasures, a country store with gift and food items, theme baskets, baked goods, tins of cookies, crafts, and a delicious lunch by Brown Sugar Catering. Admission is free, but a donation of a non-perishable food item for St. Mary’s Seasonal Sharing ministry (where a complete holiday dinner, extra groceries and gifts are given to families in need) would be greatly appreciated. Join us to learn about your family heritage! Manchester Town Clerk, Joe Camposeo, welcomes all to take advantage of the return of the Genealogy Road Show at the Manchester Town Hall, 41 Center Street, on Saturday, December 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Out of town residents welcome. We welcome anyone interested in learning more about family genealogy research in general, regardless of where you were born or where your family is from. Learn how to and where to research. Sign up in advance for a free thirty-minute consultation with a professional genealogist by calling 860-647-3037. Walk-ins will be accommodated as time permits. Professional genealogists participating have been practicing for many years and are highly skilled at genealogy problem solving. Remember, your questions regarding any facet of genealogy, not just Manchester, can be answered. Bring all information you may already have and where you obtained it.

Come do your holiday shopping with us We have over 80 crafters with handmade hats and gloves, Glassware, soap and lotions, Christmas décor and wreathes, wood carved items, jewelry, knitted blankets, knitted sweaters, hats and mittens, snowmen and handmade light up reindeer, stocking stuffers, homemade special breads, doll clothing, ornaments and so much more. We serve hot lunches and lots of bake goods for sale. Santa will be stopping by for a visit with his bag of goodies. We are handicapped accessible. Admission and parking is free.

The Manchester Historical Society invites the public to an open house of its historic properties, Visit the Cheney Homestead at 106 Hartford Road, decorated by the Manchester Garden Club for the holidays The Old Manchester Museum at 126 Cedar Street The History Center, 175 Pine Street Interesting exhibits at each location, including, at the History Center, special exhibits on the Manchester Road Race and Cheney Brothers 180th anniversary. The History Center’s museum store sells local history books, maps, note cards, tote bags, tee-shirts, etc. The open houses are free; donations accepted. Visitors can drive or walk between locations. Do you find yourself browsing through the cookbook section of your favorite library or bookstore? Do you like tasting new things and enjoy discussing them with others? Then we have just the program for you. Come to one of our 'Recipe Readers' events. This club will meet monthly on Saturday afternoons from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Each month a theme, author or cookbook will be chosen. Participants are asked to pick one recipe from the book(s) and come to the program with dish in hand on the date posted ready to discuss their experience. Dishes should arrive fully prepared and ready to share. This month books choices are: Cookie Swap and Pot Luck. A selection of cookie cookbooks are available at both library buildings.
