[9:00am] Brotherhood in Action Community Breakfast
Description:
The Manchester Brotherhood in Action (BIA) proudly announces that our annual community breakfast will benefit the families of Nate Rosario of East Hartford and Xavion Williams of Manchester. This year’s event will be held on Sunday February 24 from 9 AM-12 Noon at the Masonic Temple located at 25 East Center St. Manchester, CT. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door, $5 for adults and $3 for children. Proceeds will help the families offset expenses incurred from medical bills. The BIA has been in existence since 1987 and has fundraised over $125,000 in charitable contributions to help children with life threatening illnesses. Volunteer members are from UNICO, Knights of Columbus, Beth Sholom B’nai Israel Brotherhood, and both Manchester Masonic Lodges. Description:
Author Martin Podskoch presents an illustrated program about his book, “Connecticut 169 Club, Your Passport and Guide to Exploring Connecticut.” The book encourages readers to visit all of Connecticut’s 169 cities, towns, and villages and includes a place to document their visit to each town, getting a stamp, sticker, or signature from a business or other town location. Marty, a retired teacher, lives in East Hampton. He suggests that the whole family enjoy the adventure of exploring all 169 Connecticut municipalities together. Dr. Marcy MacDonald to speak at MARCH Fundraiser Got Questions? Manchester’s Mermaid, Dr. Marcy MacDonald, will be interviewed by Journal Inquirer Asst. Editor, Matt Buckler, on Sunday, Feb. 24 th, 2:00 pm, at the Army & Navy Club on Main St. in Manchester. Come and have your questions answered too! Dr. MacDonald’s swimming successes: 16 crossings of the English Channel; first American to swim the Loch Ness; swimming around Manhattan Island; and more! Dr. MacDonald is offering this as a benefit for MARCH, Inc. of Manchester. Donations of $5.00 Adult/ $1.00 children under 12, are requested at the door. Free parking in the town lot at the corner of Main and Forest Sts. Refreshments and raffles.
