[7:00pm] Library Event: Professor Vara Neverow
Description:
Virginia Woolf: An Advocate for Women’s Rights The Manchester Public Library on 586 Main Street will host Professor Vara Neverow with her program, “Virginia Woolf: An Advocate for Women’s Rights” on Tuesday March 5thth, 2019 from 7-8 p.m. Virginia Woolf, although she was not a suffrage activist, was dedicated to advancing women's education, financial independence, and freedom of creative expression, all of which are foundational for twenty-first century efforts to the struggle for women's rights globally and locally. Woolf's two essays--A Room of One's Own and Three Guineas--define her views explicitly, but her fictional work is deeply entwined with her views on women's status in the world. Vara Neverow is a professor of English and Women's Studies at Southern Connecticut State University where she has taught for 30 years. She is the editor of the Virginia Woolf Miscellany, a periodical that focuses on topics related to Woolf, her work, and the Bloomsbury Group. No registration is required for this free program.
