On Monday, March 11 at 6pm, Bistro on Main (867 Main Street, Manchester) will host a benefit dinner for Interval House, Connecticut’s largest domestic violence agency, serving Manchester and 23 other towns and cities in the State. Chef Ben Dubow is offering a sumptuous four-course menu paired exquisitely with wines by Jim Donahue of Winam Wines for $85/person (includes gratuity). Join us for a lively evening on Main Street, a delicious meal, as well as wine auctions and drawings! Proceeds benefit Interval House, working to end domestic violence. [6:30pm] Adoption 101 Program at Whiton Library
The Whiton Branch Library on 100 N. Main Street will present “Adoption 101” on Monday March 11th, 2019 from 6:30-8 p.m. The panel of experts will consist of: State Comptroller Kevin Lembo; Susan Parrotta of Connection Adoption Services; Joselyn Benoit of UCONN’s Adoption Assistance Services; and library staff members Jessica Sweetland and Jenn Bartlett on their experiences with adoption. Topics will include insights from professionals on the nitty-gritty of the adoption process, what you need to know, and resources, as well as experiences from those whose lives have been touched by adoption. Bring your questions, bring your stories, and bring an open heart. No registration is required for this free program. [7:00pm] Manchester Garden Club Meeting
The Manchester Garden Club will host Cathy Ritch, Monday March 11 at 7:00 pm. Cathy will speak about easy floral designs you can do at home for little time and expense. Incorporated in her talk will be the Principles and Elements of design. These are the guidelines used to judge flower designs in flower show competitions. Her designs will be raffled at the end of the presentation. Cathy is an NGC Accredited Judge. She has been the Ct State Flower Show Chair for the past three years. She is a life long gardener and is happiest when she can make a floral designs from flowers grown in her own garden. The meetings are held at Center Congregational Church and are open to the public. A $5.00 donation is suggested and light refreshments are served.
