[7:00pm] Votes For Women!
Description:
The Manchester Public Library invites you to celebrate Women’s History Month with Votes For Women!, presented by Carolyn Ivanoff, historian, on Tuesday March 19th, 2019. In 1848, the first women’s rights convention was held in Seneca Falls, New York. But it wasn’t until 1920 that the 19th Amendment was ratified, giving American women the right to vote. In this special program, the titanic struggle for suffrage will be told through period photos, political cartoons and editorials. The presenter, Carolyn Ivanoff, Housemaster at Shelton High School, will dress in period clothing in honor of the women who fought valiantly so that future generations would have the right to fully participate in our democracy. This is a FREE program for adults; no registration required. For more information, please call Jenn Bartlett at 860-645-0821 or visit the library website.
