TEEN FINANCE 101: BUDGETS & CREDIT Thursday, April 4, 2019 3:30 PM Whiton Branch Library 100 North Main Street Manchester, CT 06042 Teens in grades 9-12 are invited to celebrate Money Smart Week by learning the basics of finance from Northeast Family Federal Credit Union. Teens will learn how to create and maintain a budget and the importance of credit. Snacks will be provided. Registration is not required. Questions? 6:00pm [6:00pm] Poetry and Dulcimer Workshops
Imagine Main Street and WORK_ SPACE present Arts Workshops on Thursday, April 4th starting at 6 p.m. Workshops have limited space and pre-event registration required. Following the one-hour workshop, attendees and the public are invited to join Carolyn Brodginski and Julia Paul in a mini-concert/poetry reading in the Main Gallery at WORK_SPACE starting at 7:30 p.m. Manchester Poet Laureate, Julia Paul, a nationally published, award winning poet, will lead a workshop called, If Photographs Could Talk: Giving Voice to Captured Moments through Poetry. Participants are asked to bring a photo which can be anything from a family heirloom, a snap on your phone or one from a book. There will be an opportunity to share our generated work with each other (without pressure). This workshop is free, but limited to 10 people*, first-come, first-served. Singer/songwriter and therapeutic musician, Carolyn Brodginski will present a workshop called Dulcimer: The instrument of Healing and Joy. The Mountain Dulcimer is an original American folk instrument that many Americans have never seen or heard. Also known as the “Appalachian Lap Harp”, the dulcimer has a beautiful, soothing sounds that heals the soul the instant you strum across its 3 strings. Carolyn will provide simple instruction on the dulcimer and each participant will have a cardboard dulcimer on which to learn, or may bring their own. The workshop has a $10 fee and is limited to 10 people*, first-come, first-served. Registration for either workshop should be by email to info@imaginemainstreet.com no later than April 1. Attendees should be 16 years and older, no children please. WORK_SPACE is located at 903 Main Street, Manchester. Workshops will start on time and will be held on the 2nd level of the building, a free public mini-concert featuring Carolyn Brodginski on dulcimer with poetry at intermission by Julia Paul will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the Main Gallery on the first floor.
