Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Community Workshops
Description:
[Registration Open] The Town of Manchester is offering a three-part community workshop series on diversity, equity, and inclusion. The series is designed to build a foundation for on-going learning related to diversity, race, bias, equity, and social justice. Topics include: Equity 101, Everyday Anti-Racism, and How to Have Conversations About Race, Bias, & Equity. Workshops occur March through June, with four opportunities to attend each topic. Weekday sessions are offered in the morning, afternoon, and evening. A condensed two-session Saturday morning session is also available. Space is limited. Register early to secure a seat. The Manchester Public Library in celebration of National Library Week (April 7-13, 2019) invites the public to tell us their library story on April 9, 10, or 11 . As part of a new oral history initiative, we want to hear and record on video your favorite Manchester Public Library story. From reading in the stacks, to checking out your favorite DVDs, we want to hear what you love about the Manchester Public Library. The compiled video will be on our website and other media sources. [11:00am] The MOMS Club®
Description:
The MOMS Club® of Manchester/East Hartford is the local chapter of MOMS Club® International, which is a national nonprofit organization with hundreds of chapters across the country. MOMS stands for Moms Offering Moms Support. We meet at the South United Methodist Church on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 11 AM. This is a great way to meet other at-home Moms in your community and participate in fun activities all year long. Internationally, the MOMS Club has over 2,000 chapters in 7 countries, and we represent more than 100,000 members. Locally, our chapter has about 15 members and we are always looking for other moms to join. We hope you will join us for fun activities, great friendships, and a wealth of ideas and information! We do have a $25 membership fee and this goes towards our dues to International and for use of the church space, where our monthly socials are held. In addition to our monthly social we have numerous activities scheduled throughout the week at places like Jump Off, The Lutz, parks and play dates at people’s houses. We also do one Moms Night Out a month and every summer we have a family picnic. The Manchester Public Library on 586 Main Street will show an endearing comedy about adopting children during Cheney Cinema on Thursday, April 11th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Due to license restrictions (since admission is free) we cannot release the name of the movie being shown, however it is rated PG-13, and run time is 1 hour and 57 minutes. After being taunted by relatives about their childlessness, a couple decides to foster three siblings, which results in drama, hilarity and life changes. Can’t guess the name of the movie?
