9:00am [9:00am] Manchester Community Services Council Meeting
The Manchester Community Services Council (MCSC) is a non-profit organization of individual members of the community and organizations comprised of agencies, businesses and non-profits in the greater Manchester area. Our Annual meeting will be held Thursday, May 2. There will be a presentation of our scholarship winners, plus town representatives will be highlighting summer programs of interest for children and families. We will hear from the Recreation Department, Youth Services Bureau, Library and Manchester Adult and Continuing Education just to name a few! Meeting is held at the Manchester Police Department in the Training Room on the 2nd floor Please contact Margaret Haley at (860) 647-3064 with any questions. BEER & BUSINESS Each month, a local brewery and restaurant sponsor a tasting in our downtown art gallery, and then participate in a panel on their entrepreneurial journeys. May’s sponsors include the CT Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, Lucky Taco, and Berkshire Brewing Company. This is a free networking opportunity for area professionals. Visit with vendors, youth and adult, who make so many amazing items including candles, jewelry, toys, critters, cozies, and skateboards and games. Listen to the music of the Cheney Tech Arts Honor Society students and the always fun Mike Bloomer, and Town Troubadour Bill Ludwig. Enjoy Pop's Hot Diggity Dogs, and bonus - The Angry Egg will be open too, along with other great downtown restaurants! Do some chalk art and post it on social media! Look for A-frames and balloons for the location. Young artists interested in participating should contact IMS organizers at info@imaginemainstreet.com. All programs are subject to change. [6:30pm] National Day of Prayer!
LOVE ONE ANOTHER! The theme this year comes from the words of Jesus in John 13:34, “Love one another. Just as I have loved you.” The National Day of Prayer will be held on Thursday, May 2nd at 6:30 pm in Center Memorial Park next to the Mary Cheney Library, 586 Main Street, Manchester. Please join Manchester’s citizens on this special set apart day. This is a great opportunity to pray alongside others for our leaders and this nation. The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for our nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. [7:00pm] A Broadway Cabaret at Cheney Hall
The Little Theatre of Manchester in conjunction with students from the University of Hartford will present: A Broadway Cabaret at Cheney Hall. Featuring the best local performers and some of the most popular songs from Broadway, the evening will showcase the abundance of talent in and near Manchester. Audiences will also enjoy a pre-show slider bar dinner from Brown Sugar Catering. This event is a fundraiser for the Little Theatre of Manchester at Cheney Hall, a local theatre dedicated to fostering the interest and appreciation of the performing arts. Tickets are $25.00 if purchased before April 29th ($30.00 after that date).
