Description:
The Manchester Historical Society welcomes the public to a special program on Sunday, May 12 -- 'The Sacred Role of Motherhood' -- at the Cheney Homestead, featuring two mothers in two different generations of the Homestead (Electa & Ednah), and their special and very different roles as mothers. We will share Ednah's close friend's (Julia Ward Howe) radical 'Mothers Day Proclamation.' Your visit includes viewing this early American home, including the recently opened Homestead Art Gallery, celebrating Manchester's rich history in art. Tour the 1785 Homestead which was donated to the Manchester Historical Society by the Cheney family in 1968 for use as a house museum. Donations welcomed for the upkeep of the Homestead. Description:
Time to relax and enjoy this social custom with someone you love. Serina Julien is a native of London and will serve as your host. She will set out the fine china, finger sandwiches, and sweet treats for her guests. Then we will discuss some of the traditions surrounding afternoon tea, proper table etiquette, and British culture in general. Registration is required for this program and space is limited. Your contribution includes two guests for the program and free admission to the museum. $20 Members (for two guests) $25 Non-Members (for two guests) $10 Each Additional Guests
