The following is a list of scheduled meetings to be held by the Manchester Economic Development Commission. The meetings will be held in the Directors Room, Lincoln Center. 9:00am [9:00am] Manchester Land Conservation Trust Tag Sale- Donations Welcome
Accepting tag sale donations now through June 3 on most Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays to benefit the Manchester Land Conservation Trust and its work to preserve open space lands. Drop donations off at the former cider barn – small items can be placed in the bin to the right of the barn – or contact the tag sale manager, Terry Parla, 860-643-1823. No TVs, encyclopedias, clothing. The actual tag sale runs from Friday, June 7 through Saturday, June 15, 9:00 to 2:00 each day, with 5,000 square feet of books, games, dishes, tools, furniture, near-antiques, etc.

[11:00am] The MOMS Club®
The MOMS Club® of Manchester/East Hartford is the local chapter of MOMS Club® International, which is a national nonprofit organization with hundreds of chapters across the country. MOMS stands for Moms Offering Moms Support. We meet at the South United Methodist Church on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 11 AM. This is a great way to meet other at-home Moms in your community and participate in fun activities all year long. Internationally, the MOMS Club has over 2,000 chapters in 7 countries, and we represent more than 100,000 members. Locally, our chapter has about 15 members and we are always looking for other moms to join. We hope you will join us for fun activities, great friendships, and a wealth of ideas and information! We do have a $25 membership fee and this goes towards our dues to International and for use of the church space, where our monthly socials are held. In addition to our monthly social we have numerous activities scheduled throughout the week at places like Jump Off, The Lutz, parks and play dates at people’s houses. We also do one Moms Night Out a month and every summer we have a family picnic. [5:30pm] Arts Hall of Fame Induction
The Manchester Arts Commission has announced the names of those who will be inducted into their Arts Hall of Fame on Thursday, June 13th at a celebration to be held at the Manchester Country Club and combined with their State of the Arts event. Artist Rebecca Maloney, the Manchester Pipe Band, and Manchester High School students Dmitriy Cestaro and Hailey Ngo will be inducted by the Commission and presented with gifts created by local glass artist Robin Simpson. Their names will be inscribed into plaques, which can be found at Town Hall, containing the names of dozens of Manchester honorees. Maloney has been painting for over 20 years and creates beautiful artwork using collage and mixed media. She leads workshops, arts events and takes on commissioned work. Raised in Manchester, she currently lives elsewhere in Connecticut, and will be present and honored by artist Prathima Bhargav. The Manchester Pipe Band is a competition and performance bagpipe band, founded in 1914 and is one of the oldest pipe bands in the United States. Beyond performance at many special occasions and parades, they teach bagpipe to a new generation and maintain a high standard of musicianship. Nominated by Margaret Lynch, members of the Pipe Band will also perform at the ceremony. Young artists are inducted into the Manchester Arts Hall of Fame as

[6:30pm] Beak Speak with the Lutz Children’s Museum
This program is geared towards children ages 3-5. Beaks are a bird’s number one tool for eating, protecting, and preening! To get the job done these beaks need to be built in different shapes and sizes. We’ll take a close look at some of these unique features while measuring their real size and replicating them into drawings.
