The Way Out: A One Woman Show

Description: The Whiton Branch Library present The Way Out a one-woman show written and presented by Sue Huggans on Tuesday June 19th, 2018. This program is recommended for adults only.

The Way Out is a ten-minute, one-woman show about the discovery of repressed childhood abuse memories, the effects on an entire life even though suppressed, and how recovery is possible. A true, personal story, written and performed by Sue Huggans, it has been taken from her longer, 90-minute piece, still in development. The abuse itself is handled in a stunning yet sensitive manner- nothing harrowing. Audience reactions have included: "Amazing, gripping." "It got me thinking about something that happened to me..."

Time is allowed after the show for questions and feedback from the audience, which Sue would greatly appreciate.
Now retired, Sue Huggans has plunged into this second career with a goal of helping fellow child-abuse survivors and their loved ones. She is the founder and producer of the fourteen member Story City Troupe, which offers short, true, personal stories in the style of The Moth Radio Hour (NPR). The Troupe performs at the Buttonwood Tree in Middletown, CT the first Friday of every month, and all proceeds benefit the Buttonwood Tree.

No registration required for this free event. This event is recommended for adults only. For more information, please call Jenn Bartlett at 860-643-2471 or visit the library website.
