Leonard Bernstein: An American Treasure

Description: The Manchester Public Library presents Leonard Bernstein: An American Treasure, presented by Jeffrey Engel. Bernstein was the most gifted, famous, popular and successful musician produced by America. He was a virtuoso pianist and conductor, a composer of music ranging from Broadway musicals to the classical repertory, an educator, a lecturer, an author and a TV personality. There was very little he couldnít do extremely well. 2018 is the centenary of Bernsteinís birth and it is a good time to celebrate this American treasure.

For some twenty years Jeffrey Engel has been giving presentations devoted to classical music in libraries and retirement communities in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York. He is also an adjunct professor at Northwestern Connecticut Community College and was a professional celloist for many years at orchestras across the world.
