Manchester in the Movies

Description: The Manchester Historical Society invites the public to “Manchester in the Movies” on
Friday, January 25 at 7:00 p.m., celebrating our own Manchester-born actress, Astrid Allwyn (1905-1978), in a series of three last-Friday-of-the-month vintage movies at the History Center, 175 Pine Street, Manchester. Hosted by Society director Peter Millet, with historic commentary by author David Garnes. Actress Astrid Allwyn was born in South Manchester and went on to have supporting roles in over a dozen movies in the 1930s and 1940s, acting with Jimmy Stewart, Fred Astaire, and Shirley Temple.
