Description: Mysteries On Main Book Discussion

The Manchester Public Library on 586 Main Street will have its March meeting of their Mysteries On Main book club on Monday March 4, 2019 at 7 p.m. This month’s selection is The Winter Sister by Megan Collins. The discussion will be co-led by Collins that evening.
Collins’ book, The Winter Sister, has been published by Simon and Schuster and is receiving excellent early buzz from Goodreads, BookList, Marie Claire, Kirkus Reviews, and Pop Sugar. From author Megan Miranda: “Sharp and mysterious, The Winter Sister explores the complex bonds between families, the secrets that tie people together—and those that break them apart. A haunting debut: suspenseful, atmospheric, and completely riveting.”
—Megan Miranda, New York Times bestselling author of All the Missing Girls and The Perfect Stranger
About The Winter Sister: Secrets between sisters are sacred; silence is deadly. In Megan Collins’ powerful debut thriller, THE WINTER SISTER (February 5, 2019; Touchstone; Hardcover; $25; 978-1-9821-0014-8), a young woman gets drawn back into the search for her older sister’s murderer when she returns home to care for her ailing mother and meditate on what it means to be the daughter who survived.
Sixteen years ago, Sylvie’s sister Persephone was missing for less than 72 hours before her body was found buried in the snow on the side of the road, purple and blue marks staining her neck. Only fourteen, Sylvie didn’t know which of the promises she made to her sister to keep and which to break, telling half-truths to conceal the part she may have played in what happened to Persephone.
When pressed, Sylvie revealed that, despite their mother’s strict no-dating rule, her eighteen-year-old sister had been sneaking out with Ben Emory, the mayor’s son and their small Connecticut town’s golden boy. Persephone would wake Sylvie in the dead of night and persuade her artistic sister to paint temporary art over fresh bruises marring her skin. Fearing a showdown between her overprotective mother and defiant sister, Sylvie always surrendered to the request.
