Description: Concert - UConn Chamber Singers - Saturday, May 4
At 7:00 p.m. - The Friends of Music at Emanuel will present the UConn Chamber Singers at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 60 Church Street, Manchester, on Saturday, May 4th. The choir is comprised of 16 to 20 of UConn's most advanced vocal students and is known for its expressive and high-energy performances under the direction of Dr. Jamie Spillane. Program will feature music ranging from Renaissance classics to modern vocal jazz, as well as folk and world music, sung acappella, with particular focus on music of living composers. *

* At 6:20 p.m. - Prior to the UConn Chamber Singers concert, Grace Helmke, a talented flutist from South Windsor High School, will perform Bach’s E minor Sonata (Movements 1 and 2); Poem by Charles Griffes; and Fantaisie by Philippe Gaubert. For the past two summers, Grace has played in the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Artists Wind Ensemble. She also has been an instrumentalist in the New England Music Festival Orchestra.

Concert is free; donations welcomed. Reception will follow in Luther Hall.
