Manchester Historical Society Presents : Strong Women of Purpose

Description: The Manchester Historical Society presents “Strong Women of Purpose” on Sunday, July 9, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the Cheney Homestead, 106 Hartford Road. Historic interpreters will discuss the expanding role of three generations of women at the Homestead, from the 1790s to the 1960s, including Electa Woodbridge Cheney (managing an early American home), Ednah Dow Cheney (writer/social reformer), and twin sisters Marjory and Dorothy Cheney (WWI service/elected office). Tour the 1785 house, Keeney Schoolhouse, view our History Garden and learn about WWI “Liberty Gardens.” Donations accepted for the upkeep of the Homestead.
