Free Hike

Description: Free Hike at Highland Park on Saturday, December 16 at 1:00 p.m., viewing a waterfall, stone walls, carriage path, and Case mansion locations, as well as forest and ponds. Wear sturdy shoes or sneakers and expect some wet spots, steep climbs, and bumpy terrain. The hike and commentary will take about 2.25 hours. Participants in this moderately paced hike will learn basic hiking skills and, depending on the weather, view the Hartford skyline from the summit of Case Mountain. There’s also the option to come for just the history part of the walk, about 45 minutes, and skip the steep hill. Hike starts at the Spring Street trailhead: near exit 4 of I-384; GPS location 670 Spring St. Parking along one side of Spring Street, with a little parking at the trail head. Co-sponsored by the CT Forest and Park Association, and the Manchester Land Conservation Trust. Land Trust info: Extreme weather cancels. No dogs, please.
