Adeline Gray and Her Jump Into Fame

Description: The Manchester Historical Society invites the public to an illustrated talk about Adeline Gray (1917-1975), who began parachute jumping in 1935 and worked for Pioneer Parachute.

Jim Reuter, an engineer who recently retired from Pioneer after 52 years, will present the talk. Adeline was nationally famous for being the first person to test-jump a parachute made from nylon rather than silk, which she did in June, 1942.
