World-Wide Lighthouse Missions, Inc. (WWLM) has been a source of help to local schools and needy families within the community by providing school supplies for over 10 years.
Previous collection efforts have limited the ability to truly provide the impact desired, which is to never have to turn a family away. SO, in an effort to increase exposure, WWLM wants to get the news out that on Sunday, August 5th, there will be a wonderful event called "Cruisin' on Main" - located on Main Street in Manchester, CT.
WWLM's Administrative Offices and Donation Center are both located on Main Street, and WWLM will be holding collections at these two locations (1007 Main Street & 723 Main Street) for Cruisin' on Main attendees to make a difference for the lives of those in need within the community, all while having a great time looking at some amazing automobiles from the olden days!
Come on by and Keep Kids Cruisin' this coming school year!

The East Side Neighborhood Blockwatch & the Manchester Police Department will be celebrating National Night Out on Tuesday, August 7,with our annual ice cream social, compliments of Royal Ice Cream, at the former firehouse and at the former elementary. In addition, the police will be conducting a child safety seat check. A cruiser and an armored vehicle will also be on display. We hope to also have a K-9 officer join us for this fun evening. The event is open to all Manchester residents. Plenty of parking is available on site.
National Night Out events are held annually throughout the country on the first Tuesday in August in an effort to bring communities and their local police area representatives together for the common cause of building a sense of community and trust between the residents and the officers. It is also an opportunity to exhibit neighborhood solidarity. Come support our local anti crime efforts and find out how you can become more involved in your community.
The East Side Neighborhood Blockwatch has been in existence for the past thirty years and is made up of concerned citizens wishing to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood. The group meets each month, usually on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm at 153 Spruce Street, the former firehouse. The ice cream social in August takes the place of our monthly meeting. The group also sponsors two neighborhood clean-ups each year and the next clean-up will take place this fall. We also hold a holiday party each December.
